If you are even a little bit younger than me, there is a wonderful life experience you missed out on. There was a time you’d open up your mailbox and there would free stuff in there. Not coupons, not a bogus offer to extend your car warranty, not an offer for a credit card you can’t afford and not rocks or rotten hot dog weenies (a neighbor of mine previously got those and I had NOTHING to do with it). Actual, usable, free stuff.

It seems hard to believe now, but there was a place and time when the mailman would stop by your house and leave you packets of free detergent. I’m not talking “Jimmy Jack’s Pants Cleaner” or some off brand stuff here either, I mean good stuff like Tide. I guess in an attempt to get you to try their new product and see how good it was, instead of just telling you about it in a TV commercial you probably wouldn’t pay attention to, they sent you some to try out. You didn’t even have to ask for it, they’d just send it.
